As part of the latest major Merge software updates, one of the most contentious changes involved "anonymyzing" players who have registered for sit-n-go tournaments:
As many here are aware, Bovada completely anonymyzed player identities for ALL tournamnts, sit-n-goes, and cash games. Merge has not gone to this level of extremity
yet anyway. This change does not apply to multi-table tournaments [MTTs] or cash games.
The stated purpose of this change was to cut down on the practice of "bumhunting" by the hardcore regulars and to protect the recreational players from being swarmed
by sharks in the SnG tournaments. Understandably this has some of the regulars up in arms and, I assume, is welcomed by the recreational players.
It appears that the update also makes it so that SnG tournaments cannot be observed once they have seated and started, unlike before, as I recall.
Thoughts?
I have not played any sit-n-go tournaments since this change has been implemented. Can anyone advise as to whether the anonymity continues once the tournament
has seated?
