Treat it like homework.
I was playing this weekend on bovada and I really wanted to see where my game can improve and what I needed to do to succeed. I always thought the studying is the key to winning, and it is.
Reading, writing, and studying anything you can to help you make money is the best and right approach. I guess it feels like I was coaching myself on new foundation. So right before I played a MTT, i gave myself time to review, warm up and threw in a heating session just to get my mind going. The way i approached the session was that I tested on how well I can do before and after I excercised.
I signed up on one sitngo, had a notepad and wrote down anything and everything i could about every action, from the time i was playing to, to noteing my thoughts, my surrounding, where i was playing, how i was feeling, what is going on around me, why i was doing this and same for my opponents. i got the 1st place win and then went for a long bike ride, came back, wrote down how i was feeling, and started reviewing for the mtt.
I signed up for a 6max with 73 entries. Did the same thing i did earlier, but because I took the time to bike, it gave me time to cool off and focus on a new session. And because i set out to accomplish this , i took 1st again. Now all i gotta do is manage the time, do this consistent, treat it like work, and really focus on the good. its hard to bring in a new habit, but sometimes the things you hate doing really does help you become better at the things you love to do.
