    Walking away to recharge article

One of the great things about poker, especially online poker, is that the game is always there when you are ready to play. It is not like being an athlete, where you are at the mercy of your teams schedule, or like being a doctor, where you have to respond to emergency calls.

With poker, you can walk away from the game for a little while, and it will be there when you get back. That's why I strongly advocate taking breaks occasionally, especially if you pick up on signs that your play is not as sharp as it should be. The main sign to look for is that your desire to play is waning. You should play poker when you want to play. It sounds obvious, but too many of us inexplicably keep playing even when we do not want to.

The other thing I keep an eye out for is when I am gambling more than usual. If I am playing tournaments and I am finding that I am too willing to get all my chips in on a coin flip, that's a sign that I am not playing my best and I need to walk away rather than let myself burn out. Whatever your particular signs may be, the fact is that if you are consistently losing, chances are there's a reason for it. A lot of players will say, Oh, I am just running bad, but it is rare that that is all there is to it.

When I take a break, I really take a break. I totally distance myself from the game. I do not play at all for a few days. That allows me to take a step back, get a different perspective, and come back hungry to play well. Basically, I liken a poker players mental processing to a battery: when a batteries life runs low, you need to recharge it. And the best way to recharge is to take a little break from the game. You will find that some of your best results come when your mind is fresh and when you are playing because you truly want to be playing.

Re: Walking away to recharge article

There has been times where i have needed to recharge basically because i was playing so many games at a time that after a little while it was getting boring and frustrating if i was on a losing streak. What has helped me though is to just play 1 a day or 2 within hours of one another. This allows me to get things out of the way like eating :munch and having time to relax the mind before having to use it again haha. Just wanted to throw that out there 4 anybody interested.

I know what ya mean by needing a big break and getting a fresh look, excited about playing again.I only play my best poker, when I really feel like playing shows to, in my balance at a site.

Since Ive been playing 5 er so years online,I know when its time to recharge, before I end up losing a bunch of money.I also try not to play too many games at once,or too many hours at dont worry if you miss some games, its better to miss, and rest up,than to keep rolling and be even more burned out.

So play within reason and set limits for yourself and you will enjoy winning alot more.
