Post of the week competition

PBT will be introducing a post of the week competition starting the 24th of Feb.

All posts between Monday and Sunday will be taken into consideration and will be voted on by myself and the moderators. The most thought out, relevant and insightful post will be selected as the winning post for that week.

The winning poster will win a $5 player transfer to a poker account.

This will be on trial and can be changed with your input, so we welcome feedback.

Very generous and should certainly be both a great marketing tool and encourage the current member that is marginally posting to become more involved and support their Forum. In the absence of quality posts and replies to same the Forum just becomes a shadow of itself!

I would hope that Moderators are allowed to compete as well. It is assumed they are chosen as Moderators based on, among other things, their willingness to support the Forum with quality posting in addition to their other responsibilities. There should be a mechanism in place that allows all members, Moderators included, to cast one vote per post that they feel is worthy of being nominated. No one should be allowed to vote for their own post. The administrator can review the nominations, perhaps review the top 3 vote getters, and as an unbiased party announce the winner based on his/her discretion in conformity with the rules as set forth.

Should we add a thread of the week or month?

This would certainly be a plus but I suggest waiting to step up to this until the initial "Post of the Week" step has been implemented and running a smoothly. There will probably be some wrinkles in the initial procedure procedure that will need to be ironed out. One shirt at a time, less wrinkles to iron.

Yes moderators will be eligible to earn post of the week. Besides their dedication, willingness to participate on and off the forum and trust worthiness, moderators know that being unbiased is a great quality to display.

I can see who votes and what they have voted for, this should eliminate members voting for their own posts.

A post of the week would be nice. I think NFI should be the one who decides the winner. That would keep it from being a popularity contest. I suggest that, when ;you decide on the details, that you email e1. Too few check into the forum, this contest might bring posters who would otherwise not check in.
