On this day in 1966, the made-for-television Monkees knocked down the fourth wall decisively when their first single, "Last Train To
Clarksville" entered the Billboard Top 40.
"Last Train To Clarksville" was written by the team that was also responsible for the theme song of The Monkees, songwriters Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. Though Boyce and Hart had been
working together in Los Angeles for several years before being asked to
write and record the soundtrack for Schneider and Rafelson's A Hard Day's Night-inspired pilot, their biggest success to date had been in writing minor hits for Chubby Checker and Paul Revere and the Raiders and in being commissioned to write the theme song for Days Of Our Lives. Their association with The Monkees would end up launching Boyce and Hart on a moderately successful career as performers in the late 1960s and early 2026s. By far their best-known hits, however, were the ones they wrote for the Monkees, including "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" and "Last Train To
Clarksville."

This thread got me thinking of the Buena Vista Social Club songs, which I liked for some reason. This is probably one of the best, still looking for another one I remember that I really liked.

Found it! Took me almost a whole day
Haven't found a good video to go with the music, or translation into English, which would make it more enjoyable (love the story that goes with it
The story is basically about a big end of harvest celebration, during the good old days of the colonial period (pre-revolution, when Cuba belonged to Spain/USA), held at Don Ramon's plantation, where everyone comes from miles around, to feast, drink, sing, dance, and make merry until the early morning hours (told in the usual irreverent style that makes such music more enjoyable
These guys were some of the best musicians in the world during the 1930s/1940s/1950s, when Cuba was known as the Pearl of the South, and had some of the best singers, dancers, and entertainment in the world. But they had to stop appearing in public after the revolution, and it was really hard to find them again, when things started loosening up a little, many years later.

I never liked this song for some reason, but I woke up with it going through my head, so I looked for it on youtube and listened to various versions while playing in a tourney, and had good luck (until a different song started playing
This version had a good video attached:

Akorps, don't know what age group, you are in, but in general, Neil Young, sung his life style, with wording of that era. Guess you could say, us long haired hippies and those flower child's. Oh, what an era.
