2nd place in the $5 buy-in, $300 Guarantee on Juicy Skakes
I played this game tonight and managed to make it to the final table. I was in 4th place and there was 1 player sitting out.. Not too long after, we were down to 4 players, with one of them being that sitout. LOL
This is where thing get interesting... We are sitting in 3rd place, with the chipleader having a 2.5:1 chip lead over us. And the player in 4th place is sitting out (and has been since before hitting the Final Table) and has a stack of right under 8,100 chips. Blinds are 400/800, ante is 80.(see screenshot)
Some questions based on the info I have given:
Should we be playing by ICM, and kind of waiting it out until the sitout busts? Keep in mind, there is no guarantee he won't sit back in.. Also note my screen shot, it is break time in the picture, giving him that much more of a chace to sit back in.
Should we be playing aggressive and trying to chip up, hoping that other players will "shut down" until the sitout busts?Giving us a better shot at the win.
Has this ever happened to you (or something similar) and how did you play it?
Would you ever sit out, like this player did (who knows what his reason was, computer could have froze, internet could have died, etc.) and try to jump up in the payout scale and secure a better payday? I mean, look at what this sit out was able to accomplish just by sitting out for the entire final table..
(Sorry for getting off track, just thought maybe we could get a discussion going.)
I ended up taking 2nd place for $97+. Attached are a few screen shots, including the lobby and hand I lost with (I was ahead, of course.)

well considering you took 2nd I would say you handled it just right..
I'm a bit puzzled as to just how this sit out reached the FT in the first most common practice is to eliminate them usually by attacking there stack/blinds this also give you a idea as to whether the player is live or disconnected.
No never have I just sat out to reach the money not my lol

Thanks offrdmom. I'm happy with that way I approached the situation, and am pleased with the outcome. First would have been nice, but I'll settle for 2nd best... The sitout had a decent stack when we were down to 2 tables, but never sat back in the rest of the way. As for position to steal his blinds, well that waqs pretty much out of the question, based on how the other 2 were playing.
