Tom Dwan and Matthew Marafioti Prop Bet at WSOP Main Event

As we all know Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan is a baller and he loves to get action whenever he can to keep things interesting. Apparently the 2009 WSOP main event was getting a little boring for him so he decided to make a prop bet with fellow internet high stakes player Matthew Marafioti. The bet was that Marafioti couldn’t finish 10 shots of Patron (which is a baller form of tequila) in 15 minutes without puking. If Mariofiti did it Dwan paid him $5K and vice versa.
The winner of the bet is unknown, but what is known is that Mariofiti got messed up from the Patron and was actually forced to go home and sober up before continuing with the tournament. This was probably the best move for him because he actually has a lot of chips and could have quickly lost them in his drunken state. Durrrr of course felt a little bad, so he tipped the tournament director a few hundred dollar bills to ensure that Mariofiti got home safely.
These kids are too baller to just be happy playing the Main Event of the World Series. Instead they need to get completely trashed trying to win a prop bet! Pretty insane in my opinion, but I like Durrrr spicing things up and actually removing his biggest competitior from the table even though that surely wasn’t his intention.
If you want to see some more of Durrrr’s antics, watch him play Ivey or Ziigmund at the Full Tilt Poker tables. If you are a new player you can get a Full Tilt bonus of up to $600 on your initial deposit.
Jeffrey Lisandro Wins 3rd 2009 WSOP Bracelet

Jeffrey Lisandro did the incredible last night when he won the $2.5K razz event at the 2009 World Series of Poker. This is his 3rd bracelet of the series, each coming from playing a form of stud poker. His first win was in the $1.5K seven card stud event and the second came in the $10K world championships of seven card stud eight or better. Finally he finished the trifecta of stud variation victories winning the $2.5K razz event in commanding style.
Before this win Lisandro was already tied for first in the World Series of Poker player of year standings, but this win catapults Lisandro into a very commanding position. One of the few men that still have a chance at catching him is Phil Ivey, who is actually the only other poker player to have won 3 bracelets in one World Series, which he did back in 2002.
Jeff said that he will be taking a break now because he’s a little burned out, but he did also mentioned he will likely play a couple more tournaments in the hopes of taking down the recording setting 4th WSOP bracelet.
Lisandro has been around poker for a long time, but this World Series has really made him a household name.

Luke “FullFlush” Schwartz Wants in on the Durrrr Challenge
June 24, 2009 by PokerBankrollTips
Luke aka FullFlush1 Schwartz recently wrote a blog on Blackbelt Poker saying that he is interested in playing the Durrrr Challenge, but would much prefer to play only around 20K hands or so after seeing how long Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan are taking in this first Durrrr Challenge, taking about 4 months to complete just 20K hands. FullFlush1 is willing to reduce the odds from 3:1 to just 2:1 if Tom Dwan will agree to shorten the required number of hands.
This matchup would be great for poker because there would definitely be more trash talking and much more excitement than the current Durrrr vs Patrik battle. FullFlush would also likely choose to play no limit hold’em, which would also be more exciting to follow than the PLO that all the other entrants will likely be choosing. FullFlush is known for saying what he thinks, no matter how rude or inappropriate that is, which has brought him a lot of press in the online poker community.
Before any new Durrrr Challenge can begin though, the first one has to finish. Currently Durrrr is up just over $725K after a huge swing that saw Durrrr win $750,000 in a huge 15 hour session. The two have now played slightly over 20,000 hands so there is still a lot of time for Patrik to make up the difference and get back in the challenge.

Jamie Gold Leaves Aced Poker and Joins Poker Icons

A short while ago Jamie Gold signed what was said to be the biggest online poker sponsorship deal with new poker room Aced Poker. Well a few months and Jamie Gold bounty tournaments later, it seems that Jamie Gold has left the emerging poker room. Apparently, after the original press release the Aced Poker team was difficult to reach and Gold’s agent started to feel that the whole thing was just a publicity stunt. Aced Poker implied that they may not be able to pay what they had agreed to and Gold’s agent instructed Jamie to pull out of the deal. Gold did just that and after about 3 months the relationship between Jamie Gold and Aced has finished. This is just the story from Jamie Gold’s agent though. Aced Poker representatives say that they had every intention to continue with Jamie Gold, but he decided to pull out of the deal.
Some of the happier moments of Jamie Gold’s partnership with Aced included the initial announcement that took the poker world by storm and the Aced Poker team victory at the second Dream Team poker event where Jamie Gold led the team to victory.
Jamie Gold apparently didn’t like what was going on with his agent because it has been reported that Jamie split from her and joined a more popular poker pro agency, Poker Icons. This move makes it seem like Jamie did not like the way his agent handled the whole Aced Poker fiasco.
Even after this unfortunate event Aced Poker is still a strong poker room in the online poker world. Read a full Aced Poker review to learn more.
Kevin Smith Plays Poker at Full Tilt

Kevin Smith recently announced on his Twitter that he plays poker at Full Tilt under the username : askewsme. His graph shows that he is not the greatest player, with him down almost $20K in less than 2000 sit and go’s, but I guess being loaded means you don’t have to worry as much about whether you are a top quality player.
Soon after his twitter Smith was found playing in a $22 Full Tilt sit and go with Andy Bloch, where Bloch asked him if he would be attending ante up for Africa. Smith said he was busy in July shooting a movie so he wouldn’t be able to attend.
This just goes to show that you could be playing with celebrities at Full Tilt without even knowing it or without them being highlighted in red

The Durrrr Challenge Gets Very Tight after a couple of short sessions

Durrrr and Patrik Antonius played 2 short sessions over the weekend with very different results. In the first session Patrik dominated Dwan finishing the session up $161K and pulling into the lead with a $107K advantage over Dwan. The next session was the complete opposite with Dwan coming up on top by $123K and pulled back into the overall lead by just $15K. The two have now played a total of 5928 hands. It looks promising that the challenge is still going and the two are still meeting for sessions, but with 44000 hands yet to be played and the sessions seeming to get further and further apart, we can only hope that the challenge is completed in the next few months.

The Durrrr Challenge finally had it’s sixth session after a long lull. This session lasted for almost 3 hours and 914 hands were played. After it was all said and done, Antonius was up a little over $87K for the day, which brings him back to within $53,640 of Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan. Hopefully the challenge will continue and regain the hype that it had at the beginning before the long break. The battle is as close as it has ever been and it will be fun to watch the next 45,000 hands play out.

Huckleberry Seed was able to string together 7 heads up victories in a row and came out on top in this yeas NBC Heads up Championship. Seed had to defeat Little, Gus Hansen, Chorny, Oppenheim and Farha before playing Vanessa Rousso in the finals. Seed was able to beat the surprising finalist Vanessa in two straight matches. This is just another win that Seed can add to his already very nice resume. The episodes will air on NBC later in the year. There were some good matches including a rematch between Phil Helmuth and Tom Dwan, where Hellmuth was able to get his revenge.
The episodes will be exciting and I am looking forward to watching some.

PokerStars poker professional Vanessa Rousso has just signed on as a sponsor for GoDaddy.com. GoDaddy who has also recently signed race car driver Danika Patrick said that “Vanessa is smart, she’s aggressive and she’s hot [and] she’s competing successfully in what has been a man’s sport. She is definitely Go Daddy material.” Vanessa has a lot of supporters as well as a lot of haters in the poker world, but she is definitely capitalizing on her new found fame.
She may not be the best poker player around, but if she keeps finding deals like this, she will have a huge bankroll for poker even if she keeps losing online.
